Client Goals:
A pleasant and beautiful arrangement of native shrubs and wildflowers, with a few select ornamentals
Privacy along property borders
A landscape full of color and variety
Pathway throughout the landscape for ease of access, with shaded sitting area
Low maintenance and resilience to storms and surge
Before the Transformation:
The landscape was damaged from Hurricane Ian. Only canopy trees remained.
After the Transformation
Design elements:
Key features of the design are: Native palms to provide canopy and presence in the landscape and a shell path with composite edging to provide access and movement within the landscape. Thick plantings of native ground covers and coastal vegetation offers resilience and variety of color and texture throughout. Several unique boulders were placed at key locations to add interest and permanence of local limestone. Low volume irrigation for efficient watering of all landscape plants.
Installation is Complete!
The landscape is fully installed and ready to grow and mature.
After several years of growth, and another hurricane…
The landscape has matured and developed into a lovely expression of the natural beauty of Sanibel Island over the last few years. While some plants were damaged during Hurricane Milton, the landscape has continued to thrive and grow into a lush island oasis!
